As we mentioned recently in "
License Statistics v3.5 is finally here!", the latest major release of License Statistics involved an extensive overhaul of the underlying code. Part of the beauty of these changes is our new ability to quickly add features into the License Statistics web application.
We have several releases planned for the upcoming months that will extend the functionality of the License Statistics web application even further, allowing us to phase out separate tools, such as Analyzer and customer reporting, because you'll be able to do everything these tools can do and more in the web application.
With the latest release, version 3.5.3, you can already get reports for Usage per Feature and Usage per User reports in addition to Current Usage reports. Upcoming releases will add User Groups, Host Groups, and other reports. This integration of Analyzer functionality into the web application is particularly good news for Unix users, since Analyzer is a Windows-only tool.
Another major enhancement soon to make its debut in the web application is full-featured custom reporting, which will eliminate the need for the command-line custom reporting tool. You'll find that the interactive web interface is significantly easier to use to make virtually any custom report you can imagine. The database editing tool, xfeditdb, will also soon be retired, with database editing directly integrated into the web interface.
With these and other exciting changes coming up, you'll no longer need to switch from one tool to another to work with your license usage data. You'll have everything you need by simply opening the License Statistics web application in your browser. What could be easier?
We're very pleased to be able to provide you with these significant improvements in rapid time. As always, we strive to give you the best tools possible to help you make the most of your licenses, and the most of your investments in both time and money.
